Seán Ó Buachalla (Green Party)
Seán Ó Buachalla (29) is secretary of the Meath Greens, chair of the national party's Irish language policy group and a long-time Green Party member in Meath. He ran for the party in the general election in 2007 and the 2009 local elections. He lives outside Dunboyne and was educated at Rathbeggan NS, Coláiste Mhuire at Parnell Square, Dublin, and NUI Maynooth, from which he graduated with a degree in Nua-Ghaeilge and History. He currently works as an Irish translator and was the original chairperson of the Gaelscoil Ráth Tó founding committee and currently sits on its board of management. His mother is a Duffy from Ratoath and his father is a retired ESB civil engineer from Cork. He has a particular interest in local Meath history and genealogy and he is currently conducting research on literature and culture in the Irish language in Meath and north Leinster in the 18th century. His main issues are a proper public transport network for Meath and the extension of the Dunboyne rail link to Navan, investment in education and schools, the development of local clinics to relieve pressure on the health service and more emphasis on health education, tax breaks and grants for renewable energy.
