Controversial finish at Simonstown

Monday evening"s JFC clash between Kildalkey and Slane ended in controversy after Mairtin Doran received a red card and Slane snatched a disputed late goal to earn an unlikely draw at Simonstown. Kildalkey"s Doran was dismissed on receipt of a second yellow card for allegedly arguing with the referee Tom Lorton and his umpires over the controversial goal that arrived in the seventh minute of injury-time. A long-range point attempt from Slane fell short and after a scramble the ball appeared to be heading for the goals before Tony Fox intervened to clear the danger. However, the umpires declared the ball had crossed the line before Fox"s clearance and the goal was awarded. Doran"s was sent-off ahead of the final whistle.
