Nobber locals stage balloon protest against incinerator

More than one hundred children and adults attended last Saturday"s balloon protest at the Nobber plant of College Proteins Ltd, where 500 balloons were released by North East Against Incineration (NEAI) to underline its concerns about discharges from the proposed combined heat and power plant that the firm is currently seeking permission to develop. NEAI is currently finalising submissions to An Bord Pleanála on the Strategic Infrastural Development Schemes (SIDS), under which College Proteins lodged its application. The closing date for objections is today (Wednesday) and NEAI officer John Keogan said he would be travelling to the planning authority offices with chairman Christy Reilly to deliver the last submissions from locals and their supporters.
