Kells dads hoping to reach €50k target

This group of 13 ex-footballers from Drumbaragh, Kells, hope to hit their three-year target of €50,000 for four local charities shortly, when the full returns from their third annual long-distance cycle are totted up. The Kells dads had set off this year for Donegal, reaching Bundoran before next cycling on to Donegal town, and then home to Kells with the rain only catching them on that last day. The group decided some years ago they had to find an alternative for their past football days and chose to cycle around the country, raising funds for the town"s Conference of St Vincent de Paul, Meals on Wheels, Kells ARCH Club and the town"s Chernobyl Childrens Group. Chief organisor was Frankie Lynch and the past two years has brought the cyclists to Westport, Co Mayo and Galway city. This year"s cyclists were granted a civic reception in Bundoran by Town Council Cathaoirleach Seán McEniffe.
