Mr C Flattery, Enfield

There was much shock and sadness in the Enfield area to learn of the sudden death of well-known local publican Charlie Flattery on Monday morning. Mr Flattery was a great community man and was involved in the local Na Fianna GAA Club. The Enfield community is still mourning the sudden passing of local Sergeant Jim Queeney who died a month ago and the death of Mr Flattery is a further blow to the community. Local councillor Bill Carey paid tribute to Mr Flattery and said it was a tragic loss to his young family. He said Mr Flattery had built up a successful bar and restaurant and would also be a great loss to the community. 'He was very community minded and involved with Na Fianna. His death is a further blow to the club and the community following the recent death of Jim Queeney,' said the Enfield councillor. Mr Flattery of Balrennett, Carbury, Co Kildare and also Main Street, Enfield, is survived by his wife Laura, son Cathal, daughters Niamh, Phil, Aislinn and Mairead, his mother Breda, sister Mary, brothers Joe, Martin and John, brothers and sisters in law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, relatives and a large circle of friends. Removal will take place from his residence today (Wednesday) at 6.30pm to St Mary"s Church, Broadford with funeral mass taking place at 11.30am on Thursday morning.
