Meath teams beaten

There was no joy for Meath teams in the pre-season Meath & District League James O"Connell / John McKenna Memorial Top Four competition on Saturday, 2nd August. The semi-finals were played between Meath and Louth teams. Botown, who received a walkover in the quarter-final were hammered by Louth side Albion Rovers (1-6) in a one-sided contest. Navan Cosmos also lost heavily (2-5) to another Louth side, Woodview. The final of the competition will take place next Saturday at Duleek. Albion Rovers v Woodview, kick-off 5pm. The tournament is organised by Duleek FC in memory of club stalwart James O'Connell who passed away a number of years ago. It also remembers popular Louth Branch (ISRS) referee John Mckenna who also passed away suddenly.
