Beggy maintains good form

Dunboyne jockey Padraig Beggy maintained a good strike rate at Sligo when he landed the opening race on Wednesday evening (6th August). Beggy won the auction maiden event in fine style on board Beth for his 11th winner of the season and his second success at the track from only five rides. Faring even better was Meath trainer Steve Mahon who sent out his sixth winner in 13 days when Miriam's Rose won a handicap hurdle. Over at Gowran Park Johnny Murtagh moved on to the 56-winner mark for the season when he won the opening race with Born To Be King while trainer Joanna Morgan saddled her 15th winner on the flat when Lara Celeb won an apprentice handicap. Meath Chronicle Racing Columnist Ger Lyons suggested that Beat The Rain would run well in this week's column and the horse duly finished in third place at odds of 7/1 which represented reasonable each-way value.
