Bus crash inquest opens The inquests into the deaths of the five young students who died when a Bus Eireann schoolbus overturned outside Navan in May 2005 has been told all five teenagers died of multiple injuries consistent with roll-over injuries where passengers are not restrained. The inquest, which is being held before Meath County Coroner John Lacy and a jury at Trim Courthouse, opened this morning (Monday) and is expected to last most of today. Claire McCluskey, Deirdre Scanlon, Aimee McCabe, Lisa Callan and Sinead Ledwidge died after the horrific bus crash at Mooretown, Navan, on 23rd May 2005, in which over 40 other students were hurt, some seriously. The purpose of the inquest is to examine the cause of death in each case and the circumstances which caused the vehicle to crash. A total of 11 witnesses are expected to give evidence.
