Nobber incinerator oral hearing postponed
BORD Pleanála has confirmed that the oral hearing into the combined heat and power plant and ash landfill at College Road, Nobber scheduled for next Tuesday, 26th August, has been cancelled for at least a fortnight. The delay was to enable the six local authorities circulated on 28th July last to make submissions, a board spokesman confirmed. The oral hearing formally opened in the Newgrange Hotel, Navan last Tuesday under the direction of senior planning inspector Pauline Fitzpatrick. She turned down the application of objectors, led by the North East Against Incineration chairman Christy O'Reilly, for an extension of time to enable the councils of Louth, Cavan, Monaghan, Westmeath, Offaly and Kildare to make submissions. The hearing is not now thought likely to re-open until 9th September. The decision was welcomed today by NEAI secretary John Keogan, who said it superceded a possible High Court challenge by his group.
