Dunsany show some positive signs

Dunsany booked their place in the knock-out stages of the JFC and the manner in which they defeated Kildalkey at Dunganny on Tuesday evening of last week suggests that their long wait for ultimate glory might be nearing an end. Kildalkey started well, but Barry O"Donnell settled Dunsany with a point. Once Dunsany got the upperhand they restricted Kildalkey to just two first-half points while goals from Charles Keena gave the winners a 2-5 to 0-2 interval cushion. After the resumption Paul O"Donnell put the issue beyond doubt with his side"s third goal. Donal Clynch, Stephen Clynch, Mark Brennan and Paul O"Donnell all impressed for the winners. Butler"s goal gave the Kells parish side a 1-7 to 0-4 interval lead. Dunboyne replied brilliantly after the resumption with a 1-2 rally, but Brosnan settled Kilmainham with a cracker of a goal and eased them towards the winning post. Kilmainham - K Jordan; D Newman, P Curran, M Fallon; J Mahon, H Newman, G Morgan; M Newman (0-3), T Lynch; S Butler, D Farnan (0-2), D O"Sullivan; S Mahon (0-1), G Butler (1-4), S Brosnan (1-1). Once Moynalvey opened the scoring through PJ Walsh they never trailed. Further points from Cathal Sheridan (three), Walsh (two) and James Weldon had Moynalvey 0-7 to 0-2 clear at the interval. After Ollie Regan denied Curraha a second-half goal, Willie Byrne found the net at the other end to emphasis Moynalvey"s supremacy. Moylagh 1-10 Meath Hill 2-7 A draw was sufficient to secure Moylagh"s place in the last eight of the JFC with this draw against Meath Hill at Carnaross on Wednesday of last week. Meath Hill needed to win to overtake Moylagh because they had an inferior scoring difference to their rivals, but they were left to rue a missed second-half penalty as Moylagh defended superbly and progressed to meet Dunsany in the quarter-finals. St Vincent"s raced into a 0-5 to 0-0 lead, but once the Stamullen men settled they rallied superbly and were on level terms, 0-6 each, at the break. The second-half was a close run affair. St Vincent"s went 0-8 to 0-7 ahead before Keith Traynor levelled again with 15 minutes remaining. As full-time approached the teams were tied, 0-10 each. St Patrick"s missed a close-range free and from the resultant kick-out St Vincent"s pointed through Tom Field. Donaghmore/Ash 1-14 Clonard 0-13 The concession of a first-minute goal proved costly for Clonard as they were ousted by Donaghmore / Ashbourne in the Junior B FC quarter-final for the second successive year at Trim on Wednesday evening of last week. Clonard"s nightmare start left them 0-0 to 1-3 adrift after the first-quarter and they trailed by 0-5 to 1-8 at the break. A much improved second-half performance for Clonard produced eight points and they kept pressurising, but to no avail. Clonard - D Campbell; E Connolly, C Darby, E Treacy; C Treacy, J Darby, J Moore (0-1); I Campbell, P Boland (0-5); P O"Donovan (0-2), A Campbell, D Flynn (0-1); G Raleigh, K Darby (0-1), D Rowley (0-3).
