Travels abroad axed for 'How Low" lads

Last week saw the return to our TV screens of the 'How Low Can you Go?" team of Navan"s Michael Hayes and his mates Mark O"Neill and Baz Ashmawy. The hapless trio have moved to comedy night on RTÉ Two with their new series, this time home-based, which sees Baz, Mark and Michael at work and at play, acting the maggot down at Montrose, crashing the TV Now Awards and pursuing a career as the next big Irish boy band. With the extent of their travel this time involving the 46A bus, the boys now find themselves out of work and penniless, thinking up new ways to earn cash and get back inside the Dublin celebrity scene. Last week saw a rowdy visit down the corridors of RTÉ, when the trio caused a racket whilst making their way to see their commissioning editor. Inadvertently offending popular Afternoon Show host Bláthnaid Ní Chófaigh along the way (and it"s not that easy to offend Blathnaid!), they scurry off the set only to discover that their travel show 'How Low Can You Go" has been axed! No longer will they be jetting off to sunnier climes to unleash their wild ways on the public! Down and dejected, the lads decide over a pint to move in together and make a dvd of their new and exciting lives and prove that they can once again make it in television! They start their journey house hunting for the perfect bachelor pad, meet their lonely-heart landlady, and naturally host a highly entertaining housewarming. With the travel show having been axed, there is no money in the How Low pot! Mark is the only one still with a job at RTÉ, so Baz and Michael decide to go see their agent and demand work. Baz is offered a place on a Chekhov acting course and Michael a spot on a farming programme. Baz"s acting classes end in disaster and Michael is duly humiliated whilst in a compromising position with a constipated cow. Meanwhile Mark jeopardises his position auditioning for a TV show by insulting all the candidates and is moved to the RTÉ mailroom. During the post run, he finds the lads work as the entertainment at a kid"s birthday party, which of course results in the usual mayhem and clowning around. 'How Low Can You Go?" is on Monday nights on RTE2 at 10.30pm.
