Curran on the double for Kells

Kells Celtic overcame local rivals BMC in a lacklustre Div 2 affair at the MDL on Sunday. The Kells side suffered an early blow when the influential Gary Arkins had to go off with an injury. It was 0-0 at the break and late in the second-half Kells Celtic took the lead when Seanie Curran tapped in from a corner. The same player scored a fine individual goal to give Kells Celtic their first league win of the season. Anthony Burke, Seamie Deignan, Peter Carry, Mark Kavanagh were best for the Kells side. Brian Connolly grabbed two goals for the visitors who trailed 1-2 at the break. Seanie Bennett also hit the target before Hanlon finished off a move which involved Barry Farrelly, Seanie Mahon and Wayne Russell for his dramatic equaliser. Kentstown 3 Clones Town 2 Kentstown had to come from 1-2 down at the interval to win this MDL Div 1 clash on Sunday with David Doyle coming on to as a substitute to net a dramatic winner after a four-week lay-off with injury. The opener for Kentstown was scored by David Bowens after a Martin Clarke shot hit the woodwork. Bowens neatly finished for a second after good work by Andy Lynch and David Doyle. With the seconds ticking away, Doyle picked up a pass from Gareth Toal, beat two players before firing home to give Shane Kavanagh"s side the points. Excellent in a fine team display from Kentstown were Shaun Doyle, Keith Shields, Derek Bowens and Doyle. DIVISION 4 Boca Rovers 2 Knightsbrook 1 Boca Rovers bounced back from their first defeat of the season the previous week to earn a hard-fought home victory over Knightsbrook in the MDL Div 4 on Sunday despite having two players sent off. Knightsbrook were also reduced to 10 men. The home side conceded the opening goal before Paddy O"Brien, with a superb volley, netted Boca"s opening goal. O"Brien converted a penalty after Gerry Haughton was fouled to give the depleted home side their win.
