Meath drawn against the Dubs in 2009
Meath have been drawn to face Dublin in their opening match of the 2009 Leinster championship after last night's draw. The Royals are still awaiting the appointment of their new manager for the coming year, but whoever that turns out to be will face the ultimate task in his first championship match as games against the Dubs have traditionally been a yardstick for both sides. The match will be a quarter-final as Meath received a bye in the preliminary round and is sure to attract a huge crowd to Croke Park. All-Ireland champions Tyrone will take on Ulster Championship winners Armagh in the pick of ties in the Ulster. Cork and Kerry look set to meet in the Munster semi-final, and in Connacht, with Galway and Mayo on opposite sides of the draw, a repeat of this year's final between the two is a strong possibility. 2009 Leinster Football Championship draw First round: Kildare -v- Offaly Carlow -v- Louth Longford -v- Wicklow Quarter-finals: Meath -v- Dublin Kildare or Offaly -v- Wexford Carlow or Louth -v- Laois Longford or Wicklow -v- Westmeath
