Four winners for Geraghty at Kilbeggan
Drumree jockey Barry Geraghty was the man in form at Kilbeggan"s rain-lashed rescheduled action on Friday. Geraghty recorded a notable four-timer with Meath trainer Noel Meade providing three of the winners and Meath native Adrian Maguire also helping out. Geraghty partnered his opening winner on Maguire"s Monty Blue and the jockey then teamed-up with Meade and won on both Rochford Bridge and Parson"s Pistol for Kinnegad man Robert Bagnall which proved hugely popular with the local punters at the Westmeath track. Geraghty also won with Sigma Lifestyle for Meade. The trainer was denied a fourth winner when his Realt Dubh, under Nina Carberry, was beaten a short head by Luska Lad in the bumper. Meade was on the mark again at Naas on Sunday where he recorded a double. The Castletown trainer took the bumper with Pandorama, which is also owned by Bagnall, and Sligo jockey Luke McNiff steered Sky Hall to victory in a handicap hurdle. Navan hosted racing last Wednesday where the opening race, the Kells Nursery Handicap was won by local trainer Liam McAteer who landed the odds with his impressive colt Croisultan. The Meath flavour continued at Navan for the second race which was won by the Joanna Morgan-trained 20/1 outsider Fairy Flow. Croisultan, which had won at Bellewstown in August, is owned by the local Brunaboinne Syndicate which comprises members of the Wolfe Tones GAA club and was partnered by Pat Smullen. 'Pat was delighted with the horse and we may go for the Birdcatcher at Naas on Sunday even with a penalty,' said McAteer. The colt ran at Naas on Sunday and finished third behind the Jim Bolger-trained Tomas An Tsioda. Cortown jockey Roger Loughran maintained his good form when he was on the mark at Fairyhouse on Saturday with the Dessie Hughes-trained Dan George which won a handicap chase. Geraghty missed five rides at Limerick on Sunday due to injury and to just to compound his disappointment, two of them won. He may be able to return to action later this week. Paul Carberry, also on the sidelines due to injury, is also expected to resume action this week.
