Labour stalwart set to run for Kells Town Council again

RETIRED he may be but the father of Kells Town Council will seek a nomination for next June"s local elections - when he hopes to ensure Labour holds its current two seats. First elected in 1974, Cllr Tommy Grimes says he"s 'never been as busy' and is looking forward to next month"s meeting of the town"s Labour branch, where the 44 members are expected to choose three candidates to run: Cllr Grimes and Cathaoirleach Brian Collins are already nominated. Cllr Collins has also been nominated to run in the Kells Area Council race, in which Cllr Grimes stood in 2004. He faces a tough challenge there, given the reduction from six to five seats and Labour"s uphill task against established Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and Sinn Féin councillors.
