Nine names go to post for manager's job
Nine names have been put forward for nomination by the clubs to replace Colm Coyle as manager of the Meath football team. Nominations closed on Wednesday evening and the candidates are Eamonn O"Brien, Eamonn Barry, Sean Kelly, Liam Hayes, Andy McEntee, Dudley Farrell, Colm O"Rourke, Damien Sheridan and Tom Smyth. Eight of the nine names are familiar household names, but Smyth is a new name to be thrown into the ring. It is believed that Smyth, who is manager of Dublin side Fingallians and is from Lobinstown, was in line for the managers position in his native Longford, but lost out to Kildare"s Glenn Ryan. With the new interview committee of Barney Allen, T J Reilly and Francis Flynn in place all candidates will have to be interviewed again and then a name will be proposed to the executive before being put to club delegates for ratification.
