Call for free weekend parking in Navan
Dear sir - I read with interest the recent article in the Meath Chronicle 'Towns go all-out to retain Christmas shoppers". I also noticed that Trim is going to introduce free parking on Saturdays leading up to Christmas. However, there appears to be no such thing in Navan. Surely with all the shoppers going up North, where there is ample free parking, Navan would be only too willing to take whatever measures necessary to encourage people to stay local. Drogheda has also announced a similar initiative, introducing free parking in the run-up to Christmas. Having been in Navan recently, and noticed the obvious lack of shoppers, surely Navan Town Council and the Chamber of Commerce must be worried. So do something about it! Yours, Jemma O"Byrne, Johnstown, Navan.
