Navan activist remembered at graduation

As a SIPTU senior activist, the late Mr Tom Reilly, Balreask Old, Navan, at time of his death had completed his final paper related to his studies for a post-graduate MA in Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management with Keele University in Leeds. His wife, Breda, received Mr Reilly"s certificate at a conferring ceremony organised by SIPTU Meath Branch at the Dan Shaw Centre, Navan. Some 40 guests attended the ceremony including family members, colleagues and management from New Boliden Tara Mines Ltd. Mr Reilly"s life as a worker, trade unionist and student was recalled by various speakers from the SIPTU College, New Boliden Tara Mines Ltd and fellow graduates. His family acknowledged his life as a husband, father and brother and their absolute sense of pride in his achievements. Through the SIPTU College, Mr Reilly was one of the first union activists to obtain the NCEA Certificate in Trade Union Studies and Labour Law in 1997. He also obtained a Degree in Training and Education through open learning with NUI Galway. He was extremely generous with his time and knowledge for the support and benefit of others.
