Potholes plea in Ashbourne as road conditions deteriorate
A warning that potholes on Hunter"s Lane in Ashbourne could cause a serious accident has been made by local election candidate Niamh McGowan. She has called on Meath County Council to address the terrible state of the road there as a matter of urgency. She said that, at the present time, there were up to half a dozen large potholes on the road. These have the potential to cause serious damage to the cars of local residents and visitors to the area alike, she said. 'Some of the potholes have been filled in on a temporary basis on previous occasions, but what is required now is a resurfacing of the small stretch of road to deal with the problem for once and all,' she added. Ms McGowan, a resident of the area, said hundreds of motorists from the Brookville, Hunter"s Lane, Ashewood and Acherstown Wood areas were using this road on a daily basis. 'As a resident myself of Hunter"s Lane, I am not only concerned at the potential damage to tyres and cars, but the danger of an accident on this road as vehicles swerve to avoid the large and growing potholes on the road. I am calling on Meath County Council to resurface this road immediately,' Mc McGowan declared.
