Management and unions meet at Tara today
Management and unions at Tara Mines are meeting today (Wednesday) in a bid to resolve the dispute over cost cutting and efficiency measures at the mine. Some 350 SIPTU workers who met for over two hours last night at the Ardboyne Hotel to decide their position on the management's cost cutting proposals, agreed to seek further engagement with management on the issue. Boliden, the Swedish owner of the mine has put staff on protective notice and has given workers until January 19th to agree to cost cutting measures at the mine.
