Pedestrian killed near Carlanstown
A 30-year-old pedestrian died on Monday morning when he was hit by a car at Mullaghhea, Carlanstown. He was Gediminas Karpavicius, a Lithuanian national, who lived in Carlanstown. Mr Karpavicius was fatally injured when he was struck by a car at around 5am on Monday on the Carlanstown Road outside Kells. His body was removed by ambulance to Our Lady"s Hospital, Navan, where a post mortem was carried out. The road between Cassidy"s Cross and Kells was closed to facilitate a forensic examination of the scene of the crash until around 3pm on Monday and diversions were put in place. Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the accident or anyone who may have been travelling between Kells and Carlanstown on Monday morning between 4.30am and 5.15am to come forward.
