Peugeot takes lead in controlling emissions

TODAY"S Peugeot model range offers 72 vehicles, which emit less than 130g of CO2/km. Added to this is the fact that 80 per cent of Peugeot"s diesel range fall into the A or B tax category with road tax of €104 and €156 respectively. This means that the benefits to the customer are two-fold: there"s the lower road tax savings and good fuel economy and there"s the awareness that Peugeot vehicles are kinder to the environment. Peugeot is dedicated to using expertise to continue making improvements to reduce greenhouse gases. The Prologue Hybrid 4 concept car shown at the Paris Motor Show was presented with a 2.0 litre HDi FAP engine, 163bhp and an electric motor with a maximum capacity of 37bhp providing a maximum torque of 300Nm at the front and 200Nm at the rear. Despite its power, it has excellent combined cycle fuel economy of only 4.1 litres/100 km (approx 68.7mpg), with CO2 emissions of just 109 g/km. Improvements in the Diesel Particulate Filter technology over the years have proven effective in eliminating even the smallest particles. Through common-rail direct injection technology and diesel particulate filters, HDi diesels significantly reduce CO2 emissions. The PSA Peugeot Group recently received the accolade of French market leader in the control of CO2 emissions, an achievement which was awarded to Peugeot for the third year running by ADEME, a French Government agency.
