Tourists to benefit from Kells maps
The new Kells town map which highlights points of interest around the town was officially launched at a ceremony in the Kells Heritage Centre recently. The Kells Town Map is a joint initiative by Kells Heritage Centre and Kells Chamber of Commerce and will be available in the Heritage Centre and at various locations around the town including the library, the Headfort Arms Hotel and various local businesses. People in the area with an interest in tourism were invited to the launch to hear of the many different attractions, events and amenities in the Kells area. Amongst those in attendance were Meath County Council cathaoirleach, Liz McCormack, and Kells Town Council cathaoirleach, Cllr Brian Collins. The Learner Tour Guide Group currently attending a course on tour guiding in the Boyne Valley area at the Heritage Centre were also in attendance Local amenities and attractions that showcased on the night were Causey Farm, Meath Triathlon, the St Patrick"s Day parade committee, Kells Farmers" Market and Kells Swimming Pool. The night was a great success and a delicious offering of food from local restaurants - The Ground Floor, Vanilla Pod, Railway, Wau Chinese Restaurant and The Forge, Carnaross, ensured an enjoyable evening for all. The evening started with a presentation by Dr Conor Brady, DKIT, who talked about his findings on the Bru Na Boinne World Heritage Site in association with Adult Learners" Week.
