Armed raids on petrol station, bookmakers and supermarket
Gardai are investigating three armed robberies in the Navan and Trim areas in the past week which resulted in raiders getting away with over €1,000 in cash. An armed man wearing a ski mask got away with around €200 in a raid on the Texaco Service Station at Garlow Cross, Navan, on Friday evening. The man, who was wearing a grey hoodie with a large circle design, entered the premises at around 8.30pm and threatened staff. He made his getaway on foot in the direction of the Tara na Rí premises. Gardai in Navan are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything unusual in the area between 8.15pm and 8.45pm on Friday to come forward. The man was described as being around 5ft 9ins in height. Navan Gardai are also investigating a robbery at Ladbrokes bookies in Johnstown on Saturday morning. A man wielding a large knife entered the premises at around 10am and threatened staff before getting away with around €900 in cash. He was wearing a scarf over his mouth. Again, local Gardai are appealing for anyone with any information or who saw anything on Saturday morning in that area to come forward. Gardai say they are following a definite line of enquiry in their investigations into a raid at a Spar store in Trim, where two members of staff were threatened by a man brandishing a screwdriver last week. Shortly after 7pm on Tuesday of last week, two males entered the new Spar store at Knightsbrook, one of whom had a screwdriver and both were wearing gloves. They had their faces covered with scarves. They threatened two female members of staff and made off with a small amount of cash and four packets of cigarettes. They left the scene in a VW Passat car, which has since been seized. Gardai say they are following a definitely line or inquiry. Trim Gardai are also investigating the theft of an estimated €50 in coins from a St Vincent de Paul collection box in St Patrick"s Church, Trim, at around 1.40pm on 28th February. A man, believed to be a foreign national, of medium build and 5ft 8in to 5ft 10in in height with long brown hair and a long beard was caught on CCTV and is the suspect. Gardai are appealing to anyone who noticed anything suspicious or who may have any information to contact them. Meanwhile, a break-in to a garage at Brannockstown, Trim, is being investigated where two chainsaws, a water pump, two laser levels and a consaw were stolen. The break-in occurred between 26th February and 2nd March. Anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the area or any suspicious vehicles are asked to contact Trim Gardai. Enfield Gardai are investigating a burglary at Enfield Hardware on 2nd March at 4.50am where two well pumps were stolen. Entry was gained to the premises by breaking the glass front door to the shop. A 1999-registered silver Ford Escort was seen leaving the area with two male occupants in the direction of Dublin. Gardai are also investigating a report of two men entering KJC Entertainment Casino in Enfield at 3.30am on Saturday. They tied up a worker and made off with a quantity of cash from a safe.
