Johnstown advance in Leinster
Johnstown made a successful journey to Dublin in the Leinster Junior Shield on Saturday when they overcame top Dublin side Boca Rovers. Boca had been unbeaten in all competitions this season before Saturday, but a superb Johnstown performance ended that run. The Meath side took the lead five minutes before the interval when Ciaran Croke reacted quickest to score after the Boca goalkeeper failed to hold a Donal Cuffe free. The hosts pressed hard in the second-half, but could not breakdown a resilient Johnstown rearguard. The winners will now travel to Rochfortbridge in the quarter-final. The north Meath side took an early lead before Paul Gilsenan levelled to leave the sides tied at the interval. Trim produced a much better second-half performance and victory was assured thanks to another goal from Gilsenan and strikes from Paul Campbell and Derek Donohoe.
