Much sadness was occasioned over a wide area by the recent death of Mr James (Jim) Brady (87), Fr McCullen Park, Kells, which occurred at his residence. Deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs Kitty Brady; sons, daughters, brother, sisters, in-laws, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The funeral took place from St Colmcille"s Church, Kells, to St Colmcille"s Cemetery, Kells. A month"s mind Mass for the late Mr Brady will take place on Saturday 7th March at 7.30pm in St Colmcille"s Church. Angela Clarke, Navan Mrs Angela Clarke (nee Cahill), St Brigid"s Villas, Navan, who has died at the age of 64, was a native of Parnell Park in the town and heavily involved in the Silver Circle fundraising venture which raised funds for St Ultan"s Special School and St Mary"s Special School locally. She was also actively involved in raising funds for Daffodil Day and cancer research. She was also a keen darts and pool player and was interested in horse racing, Liverpool FC and music. Mrs Clarke worked in the old Clayton"s Mills factory in Navan in her younger years. Deceased is survived by her husband, Brendan; daughter, Marian; sons, Thomas, Derek, Alan, Colm, Seán, Michael and Paul; daughters-in-law, grandchildren, Eoghan, Adam, Darragh and Casey; brothers, Michael, Tucker and Sean Cahill, and sisters, Nancy Smith, Maureen Wogan and Irene Brady. She was predeceased by her grandson, Cian, and her brother, Jimmy. The funeral took place from St Mary"s Church, Navan, to St Finian"s Cemetery, Athboy Road, Navan. Catherine Collins, Kells The people of north Meath, and particularly Kells and Moynalty, were greatly saddened to learn of the sudden and untimely death after a short illness of Catherine (Renee) Collins (nee Lynch), 14 Blackwater Heights, Kells, and formally Corboggy, Moynalty. The news of her untimely death shocked the entire community, of which she was a very popular and much-loved member. The respect in which she was held was expressed by an overflowing St Colmcille"s Church at her removal and funeral Mass. The removal of her remains was attended by Fr John Byrne, PP, Kells; Fr Joe McEvoy, PP, Moynalty; Fr John O"Brien, Oristown, representatives of the Sisters of Mercy and the Christian Brothers and representatives from many voluntary organisations. There was also a large attendance of people who travelled long distances from many parts of the country and abroad to join in sympathy with the Collins and Lynch families. Mrs Collins" funeral Mass was concelebrated by Fr Byrne and Fr Seamus Houlihan, PP, Nobber. Sacred music was rendered by the parish choir and deceased"s family offered prayers in thanksgiving for her valued life among them and brought gifts to the altar which were representative of her faith and involvement in the parish of Kells. In his homily, Fr Byrne spoke of the shock and sadness of the entire community on learning of the sudden death of Renee. He spoke of her tremendous love of her family and her particular care of her late mother, Margaret, who had only died a short time ago. He said Renee touched many lives by her acts of kindness to those in need and expressed his sympathy and the sympathy of the parish to the Collins and Lynch families at this very difficult and sad time. Deceased is survived by her husband, Oliver; daughter, Lorraine; son, Darragh; grandchildren; brothers, Paddy, Michael, Dan and Ned; sisters, Margaret, Bride, Betty, Connie and Dympna; aunt, Maisie Carolan; son-in-law, Darren; daughter-in-law, Julie, nephews and nieces. Following the funeral Mass, deceased"s remains were laid to rest in St Colmcille"s Cemetery, Kells. Rose Grant, Kells Great sadness was occasioned over a wide area by the recent death of Mrs Rose Grant (nee McGovern), formerly of St Columba"s Terrace, Kells, at St Colmcille"s Nursing Home, Kells. A member of one of the oldest families of Climber Hall, during her young years, she was a talented performer on stage in Kells at the local musical nights and operas and also performed on RTE Radio. She was gentle by nature and the extent to which she was loved and respected was evident in the very large number of people who attended her wake, removal and funeral Mass. A large number of representatives of Kells Musical and Dramatic Society formed a guard of honour at her removal from her home to St Colmcille"s Church and the funeral the following day. Young and old and past and present members of the society paid a moving tribute to one of their finest and most loved members. Her remains were received at the church by Fr John Byrne, PP, Kells; Fr Seamus Houlihan, PP, Nobber, and Fr Dwayne Gavin, CC, Navan. Representatuves of the Sisters of Mercy and Christian Brother communities, as well as representatives of many voluntary organisations, were also in attendance. Her funeral mass was concelebrated by Fr Byrne, Fr Houlihan and Fr Oliver Skelly, formerly of Kells. In his homily, Fr Byrne spoke of Rose"s long illness and the exceptional care given to her by her family over the past five years. He also spoke of her deep faith and sense and community and said she had made a valued contributuion to the parish of Kells by her involvement in the Pioneer & Total Abstinance Association, the church choir, in fundraising for the new church and her gifted voice on many occasions on stage in Kells. He expressed the sympathy of the parish to the Grant and McGovern families. The readings, prayers of the faithful and offertory were carried out by deceased"s family and the church choir and Kells Silver Band performed a selection of hymns in memory of a much-loved and respected lady. Deceased is survived by her husband, Paddy; sons, Liam and John; daughters, Elizabeth, Maria, Patricia and Rosaleen; sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, sister, Aggie Carolan, Kells; brother, George McGovern, Kells; grandchildren, great-grandson, nephews and nieces. Barry Murphy, Enfield Great sadness was aroused over a wide area following the death of Mr Barry Murphy, Kilshanroe, Enfield, on 6th February last at his residence. A native of Ross, Mountnugent, Mr Murphy (62) was the founder and director of Highway Markings Ltd. Deceased is survived by his wife, Ursula; sons, Daniel, Paul and Fran; daughter, Linda; sisters, Kathleen Lynch, Susan Fox, Rita Halpin and Brigid O"Dwyer; brothers, John, Hugh, Danny and Paddy; grandchildren, Erin, Lucy, Sean, Gavin and Fionn; daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins and other relatives. His remains were removed to Kilshanroe Church and funeral took place to Kilshanroe Cemetery. Kathleen Byrne, Navan The regretted death recently occurred of Mrs Kathleen Byrne (nee Quigley), Dean Cogan Place, Navan, at Our Lady"s Hospital, Navan. A native of Kells, Mrs Byrne (71) was a housewife. She was predeceased by her husband, Patrick, in 1998. Deceased is survived by her daughters, Mrs Ann Murray and Mrs Elaine Darby, Navan; son, Jeremy Byrne, Navan; sons-in-law, Patsy and Damien; grandchildren, Jonathon, Stephen, Séan and Tara; brothers, Matt and Padraig; sister, Maura; sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nephews and nieces. The remains were removed to St Mary"s Church, Navan, and funeral took place to St Mary"s Cemetery, Navan. A month"s mind Mass will take place in St Mary"s Church this coming Saturday, 7th March, at 10am. Kathleen Sherrock, Ballivor The death of Mrs Kathleen Sherrock (nee Gogarty), Beechwood, Ballivor, recently occurred at the age of 77. A native of Moyfeigher, Ballivor, Mrs Sherrock was a housewife and mother to nine children. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert (Bob), in 2005. Deceased is survived by her daughters, Margaret Magee, Trim; Jackie Connor, Linda McGourty, Gerry Sherrock and Deirdre Sherrock, all Ballivor, and Josie O"Toole, Longwood; sons, Robert and Philip, both Ballivor, and Tommy, Athboy; sons-in-law, John Magee, Padraic McGourty, Thomas O"Toole and Hugh Connor; daughters-in-law, Catherine, Mary and Bernie; 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, in addition to her nephews, Martin and Derek Doyle. Her remains were removed to St Columbanus Church, Ballivor, with burial following the funeral Mass to the local cemetery.
