'The Righteous Are Bold" in Carnaross
Carnaross Drama Group"s production of 'The Righteous Are Bold" opens in Carnaross Community Centre on Friday, 6th March. Frank Carney"s drama is the fourth production by the group. Since Carnaross Drama Group was founded in October 2005 it has gone from strength to strength. It draws on a well of actors from the community from all walks of life, both male and female and all age groups. The drama group has become an integral part of the community and provides great entertainment and enjoyment throughout the winter months during rehearsals and productions. 'The Righteous Are Bold" by Frank Carney was first staged in the Abbey Theatre and ran for 96 performances. The play is set in 1945 in the foothills of Croagh Patrick in County Mayo. The plot concerns a young woman who becomes possessed as a result of being used as a medium in England. When she comes home to Ireland the local priest has to perform an exorcism. The play has a cast of ten people, a good mix of newcomers and veterans of the Carnaross stage, with fresh blood in both stage management and lighting crews. 'The Righteous are Bold" runs in the community centre on Friday, Saturday and Sunday next at 8pm, and again the following Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with tickets €12.
