What"s on the box this week?

'Not Enough Hours" (RTE 1, Wednesday) - 'Not Enough Hours" returns for a second series but to a very different financial environment. Employees are feeling lucky to have jobs, and don"t really mind working long hours; the self-employed feel they have to work and plan even harder to keep ahead of the recession. Families are undergoing dramatic change, people are under huge pressure, family routines and roles have changed. People need to manage this change and take control of it, rather than letting it manage them. With redundancies becoming a reality, people need to be more motivated and energised in order to forward plan and think clearly. Owen Fitzpatrick, psychologist and time management expert, offers practical help and advice for the turbulent times in which we"re living. He shows his new batch of candidates that, in the long run, people still have to take time out to forward plan, that productive time is not necessarily gained by working longer hours and that now, more than ever, it"s most important to take time out for ourselves so as not to falter under the pressure and stress. 'Darwin"s Dangerous Idea" (BBC 2, Thursday) - Andrew Marr traces the widespread impact of Charles Darwin"s work from its inception to the modern day, and shows how much the world is seen as fundamentally shaped by Darwin"s 'Dangerous Idea". Darwin"s theory of evolution by the mechanism of natural selection is one of the most powerful and influential scientific theories ever proposed. Its impact has reached far beyond the world of science. It has been used to challenge the place of religion in society and it has been appropriated, and often misappropriated, for political ends. It has profoundly shaped society, economics and the arts. In 'Darwin"s Dangerous Idea", Marr explores the impact of Darwin"s ideas on religion, politics and the understanding of our place in the natural world. He traces Darwin"s idea across Europe, the United States and to South America, where he discovers some of the experiences which shaped Darwin"s thinking during his five-year voyage on 'The Beagle". 'Billy Connolly"s Journey To The Edge Of The World" (ITV, Thursday) - On the third leg of his adventure, comedian Billy Connolly goes onboard a cruise ship to make the eight-day journey through the Northwest Passage and meets the people who live in this remote, isolated part of the world which spends nine months of the year surrounded by frozen sea. He learns about the explorers whose footsteps he is following in and visits the sites where they lived and died. He starts the third part of the series in Resolute Bay, a weather station that is so cold that snow is on the ground at the height of summer. Here he boards a Russian cruise ship with 100 tourists to begin the voyage at the heart of his journey - through the Northwest Passage, stopping off at Beechey Island, a popular spot with polar bears, where the first explorer to look for the Northwest Passage, Sir John Franklin, became stranded for two years due to the harsh weather conditions. THE SIMPSONS (Sky One, 17th March) - Yes, okay, it is a little early to highlight a date three weeks away - but it is worth banging on about just this once. This St Patrick"s Day, Sky will present the worldwide premiere of a brand new episode a week ahead of the US transmission. 'In the Name of the Grandfather" sees The Simpsons clan travelling to Ireland on a hilarious adventure. Grampa has always longed to return to Ireland to have a beer in O"Flanagan"s pub and Homer sets about making his wish come true. However, a drunken Homer and Grampa end up buying the pub and a whole host of madness and mayhem ensues. The Simpsons bring their charm and humour to a variety of famous Irish landmarks as they visit the Giant"s Causeway, Blarney Castle and even manage a stop off at the Guinness Brewery. Irish actor Colm Meaney features as special guest voice Tom O"Flanagan. Currently the longest-running sitcom on television, 'The Simpsons" exploded into a cultural phenomenon and remains one of the most groundbreaking and innovative entertainment franchises throughout the world. Movie Of The Week: 'Inside Man" (RTE 1, Wednesday) - A clever twist movie where a sharp criminal engineers a bank robbery and, in the process, compromises some pretty heavyweight people. Denzil Washington, Clive Owen, Willem Dafoe and Jodie Foster lead an impressive cast in a story that"ll catch you out when you least expect it.
