Ashbourne school bus shelter vandalised

Ashbourne-based Labour election candidate Niamh McGowan has expressed her disgust at 'the virtual demolition' of the bus stop at Dublin Road, Ashbourne, on Friday night last. 'All sections of the toughened glass in the bus stop outside the community school were completely smashed into smithereens by some mindless vandals,' she said. Ms McGowan is encouraging anyone who saw anything suspicious in that area on Friday night to bring it to the attention of the Gardaí and Bus Eireann. 'This was act of wanton vandalism which must have taken quite a while as all sections of the structure were smashed into little pieces. It is very depressing that a one or two people can wreck havoc and show such little respect for public property. My hope is that the perpetrators of this senseless act will be caught and charged,' Ms McGowan added.
