Trim school"s bid for youth café

Students from Scoil Mhuire secondary school in Trim are hoping to establish a youth café 'as Gaeilge" in the town. The students are taking part in the Young Social Innovators" Programme, under the guidance of teacher, Ms Niamh Meaney, and hope to provide a social outlet where young people can use a 'cúpla focal'. They also hope to establish links with fellow young people from the nearby gaeltacht of Rath Cairn. The project is being supported by Trim Councillor Caroline Lynch who spoke in support of a funding application by the students at last week"s council meeting. Cllr Lynch said: 'This is indeed an innovative project and is very apt during Seachtain na Gaeilge. The application is currently being considered as part of Trim Town Council"s community grants scheme and I am hopeful that the group will receive a grant to start their work.'
