'Traffic-calming needed" in Oldcastle
Traffic-calming measures are urgently needed in Oldcastle, according to local election candidate, Catherine Yore. 'Double yellow lines are urgently needed to ease congestion and aid traffic flow at SuperValu on the Kells Road and on Castle Street. Traffic congestion at these locations is causing serious delays and frustration to people and it can be easily solved,' she said. 'There is an urgent need for a proper set-down area at the post-primary school on the Virginia Road. The current layout is a very serious hazard to the safety of pedestrians who circulate in the area,' she said. Ms Yore said the Department of Education has extensive guidelines on how to lay out set-down areas to provide a safer environment for the young people who use the school. 'I will raise the matter with the Meath County Council road rafety officer,' she said. 'It is unfortunate that this project was not addressed during the boom years when the exchequer had large surpluses.'
