Navan"s Trisha most stylish lady at Fairyhouse
Meath found itself leading the fashion stakes again at the weekend as Navan woman Trisha Moore was named the Powers Whiskey Most Stylish Lady at Fairyhouse on Easter Monday, sponsored by Carton House. Ms Moore wore an ensemble with a mix of High Street and internet, redesigning an old hat to create a new look, buying an Oli jacket online for €74, and purchasing shoes from Faith. She was presented with a package from Carton House to the value of €10,000 which includes three nights" luxurious accommodation in Carton"s Lady Emily Suite, an indulgent day of pampering treatments at their Aveda Spa, one-on-one golf tuition, and a round of golf and leisure memberships for two, along with a €500 gift. Powers Whiskey also presented the winner with a cheque for €1,000. The two runners-up, Louise Lynn from Roscommon and Kathy Kearns from Sligo, received two nights" deluxe packages for Carton House. Colette Fitzpatrick from TV3 judged the competition and was joined by racing legend and ambassador for this year"s National, former jockey Richard Dunwoody. They were looking for sophistication, glamour and appropriate attire for the weather, the latter of which was not the best on Monday. This year marks the 140th anniversary of the Powers Whiskey Irish Grand National, and the Easter festival continues there today (Wednesday). This year"s renewal was won by Niche Market, bred in Boardsmill by Willie Flood, trained in Britain by Bob Buckler and ridden by Harry Skelton, son of British showjumper Nick. The winning trophy was presented by Taoiseach Brian Cowen.
