Torro Utd stayed in contention for Meath & District League Div 1 honours with this narrow victory over Robinstown on Sunday. The crucial goal was scored by Aaron Englishby early in the game. Torro survived a late scare when the Robinstown goalkeeper moved upfield for a corner and his header rebounded off the bar. Longwood 1 Navan Cosmos 3 The resilience needed to stay on top of the MDL Div 1 was demonstrated once again on Sunday when Navan Cosmos came from behind to defeat hosts Longwood with the help of a hat-trick from Joe Martin. The home side took the lead before Cosmos equalised through Martin after he was sent clear by Stephen Ivers. Martin struck twice more in the second-half with one goal coming from a penalty after Lawrence Ivers was fouled. Stephen Ivers, Ivan Reilly and Martin excelled for Cosmos. Johnny Murtagh put the home side ahead with a thumping header, but Bailieboro hit back to lead 3-1 at the interval. Brian Murphy added a second for Boca with Paddy O"Brien tagging on a late third however, the visitors prevailed. PREMIER A RESERVE Torro 3 Skryne/Tara 1 There was plenty of goalmouth action in this Premier A Reserve encounter with Torro doing enough to claim a victory over Skryne/Tara on Saturday. Skryne/Tara took the lead before Torro"s Tommy Hanlon conjured up an equaliser to leave it 1-1 at the break. Hanlon and Gavin Boyle netted in the second-half to seal the win for Torro. The Navan side conceded the opening goal to Greg Kerrigan however, Darren Murray equalised to make it 1-1 at the break. Further strikes from Keith Brady and Stephen Gavin (penalty) sealed the win. RESERVE CUP Navan Cosmos 3 Glenmuir 1 On the day that Navan Cosmos secured the Premier B Reserve title courtesy of Kells / Blackwater"s defeat by OMP they also grabbed a place in the Reserve Cup final after a 3-1 win over Glenmuir. Rusti Jokel was the Cosmos hero with a stunning hat-trick. Michael Rogers and Thomas Adamczyk were involved in setting up goals. Outstanding for the winners were Jokel, Derek Doonan and Eoin O"Toole. Robinstown took the lead, but OMP hit back in devastating style with goals from Gary McDonagh, Andy Carney and Stephen Gavin to lead 3-1 at the break. Robinstown grabbed a second but could not break down a resolute OMPdefence which held on in an exciting finish.
