Death of Meath All-Ireland medallist
The death has occurred of Kevin McConnell, who was a member of two Meath All-Ireland winning senior football teams. Mr McConnell, grandfather of present Dublin footballer Ross McConnell, was on Meath's All-Ireland winning teams of 1949 and 1954. From Castletown, he played his football with Castletown and Syddan, and was left full back on the 1949 team, where he was part of one of the greatest full back lines in footballing history, with Paddy O'Brien and Michael O'Brien.
