Dunboyne students bring rock musical to Navan

Students from St Peter"s College, Dunboyne, who recently experienced success with their production of the hit West End musical 'We Will Rock You", bring it to the Solstice Arts Centre in Navan this week. 'We Will Rock You" is a jukebox musical, based on the songs of Queen, written by English comedian and author Ben Elton in collaboration with Queen members Brian Maye and Roger Taylor. 'We Will Rock You" is a futuristic tale which tells of a massive corporation - Globalsoft - which sends computer generated music to all of the people on the planet. Singing, musical instruments, and any expression of creativity, are banned. But Lost Texts are known to exist which talk of music from years gone by. A group of rebels (the Bohemians) strive to discover the lost music, and bring down the corporation. This show is an interactive spectacle featuring all the favourite Queen songs including 'Killer Queen", 'We Are The Champions" and 'I Want to Break Free". The show also features a highly talented rock band. Set in the future, the main character, Galileo Figaro (Conor McIntyre) and his 'chick' Scaramouche, (Ruth Connelly) are joined by the band of rebel Bohemians, led by Miss Meat Loaf (Jessica Kealy) and Mr Britney Spears (Dylan Hyland) and the hippy Pop (Ciaran McMahon). Their mission is to find the last remaining musical instrument on the planet and bring real music back to the Ga-Ga kids! All that stands in their way is the evil Killer Queen (Sarah Brazil) and her sidekick Commander Kashogghi (Cian O"Mahony). 'We Will Rock You" will run in the Solstice Arts Centre, Navan from Monday 27th to 29th April 2009 at 8pm. Tickets priced €15 are available from the Solstice Arts Centre website at www.solsticeartscentre.com. The box office will open one hour before the show every evening.
