Tourism groups learn finer points of online marketing and networking

Meath Tourism recently hosted the first of a series of evening talks to assist the tourism trade to discover new marketing methods for attracting business during the current difficult economic climate. The first of three evening talks took place at the Headfort Arms Hotel, Kells, and drew a large audience of over 40 tourism businesses to learn about online marketing. Three speakers, Niamh Nevill, ebusiness manager, Failte Ireland; Joe Conlon, Webtrade, and Mark Conguista, head of Irish International, outlined the merits of online marketing. A step-by-step approach was taken and the audience learnt how to use Google, Linkedin, Facebook and Twitter as business marketing tools to reach a wider audience. The MC for the series is Ciaran Delaney, Proactiv Marketing, who works closely with Meath Tourism on a number of projects and has significant experience in the area of online marketing. The second talk scheduled was at Dunboyne Castle Hotel last night (Tuesday) with Frieda O"Connell, tourism marketing manager at the Irish National Stud and Japanese Gardens, on marketing in the current climate and how the National Stud has grown to become one of the largest attractions in Ireland with 150,000 visitors per year. The final talk takes place on 28th May at Trim Castle Hotel and will cover email marketing, developing e-zines and creating video for web. For bookings contact marketing@meathtourism.ie
