Quinn Direct call centre to open for business next week
Quinn Direct is due to occupy its new Navan headquarters over the bank holiday weekend as some 200 staff currently working in the company"s temporary office in Kells transfer to the huge new Navan call centre. It is expected that the new Quinn Direct purpose-built 7,000 square metres call centre in the IDA Business and Technology Park at Johnstown will be open for business by the middle of next week. Staff are employed in a variety of positions, including claims handling, sales, customer services and credit control. The Navan headquarters have been designed to house 600 to 700 staff members and the company says it plans to substantially increase its workforce over the coming years as the economy improves. Meath County Council"s director of economic development, Kevin Stewart, has welcomed Quinn"s move to Navan. He said: 'We very much look forward to Quinn opening in Navan. It is a very important addition to the jobs base in the county. 'The economic development section of the council is available to give any assistance they need in the run up to the opening or at any time in the future,' he said. Quinn Direct announced its plans to open an office in Navan in the summer of 2006 but the project was delayed by several months due to a planning appeal. While Meath County Council granted permission for the two-storey call centre building and 500 parking spaces on the eight-acre site, this decision was appealed to Bord Pleanala by a local resident. Bord Plenala subsequently upheld the granting of permission for the development, subject to conditions, in July 2007. The delay in the construction of the building led Quinn Direct to open a temporary office in the Kells Enterprise Centre while awaiting the completion of its Navan offices. The temporary office initially employed 50 people but the workforce has since grown to some 200.
