Ashbourne firm certified for CCTV installation

Ashbourne-based Regional Electrical Maintenance Ltd (REM) is one of the first two companies in Ireland to be certified by the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) for CCTV installation. Maurice Buckley, CEO of NSAI, said: 'NSAI works very closely with the security industry to address their needs and the growing demand for technical standards. Through extensive consultation with key stakeholders in the security industry, we have developed and adopted standards and associated certification programmes. REM is an example of an innovative Irish security industry company that want their services and products to be recognised with NSAI"s certification mark by their customers.' Mr Buckley said that private security companies must now meet with a growing number of standards, including those for, among others, alarm installers, CCTV installers and access control installers. 'As we all are aware, CCTV is deemed to be a vital tool in the prevention and detection of crime and this new standard has introduced CCTV installers to a certification process which requires assessment against internationally recognised standards,' he added. Regional Electrical Maintenance Ltd specialises in controller access and security systems and was founded in 2001. James Tunnah and Christopher Murray, joint managing directors, said: 'We are delighted to be the joint first company in Ireland to receive this certification. To gain this certification the criteria we had to meet were both stringent and wide reaching. However, it is vital for our company to embrace these new standards as they will help us deal with future challenges successfully.'
