Recent deaths 13-06-09

The parish of Dunsany and Kilmessan recently lost its most senior member with the death of Mrs Margaret Donohoe, Killeen, Dunshaughlin, at the age of 99. Mrs Donohoe, who was five months short of her 100th birthday, passed away peacefully after a week-long illness. Wife of the late James Donohoe, she was the last surviving member of the Englishby family of Pluckstown, Athboy, and moved to Killeen on her marriage in 1936. Mrs Donohoe was one of the oldest surviving past pupils of the old Cloran NS near Clonmellon. She was predeceased by her sisters, Betty Peterson, New Jersey, USA, Brigid, Rose and Kate Englishby, all Pluckstown, and Mary Foy, Athboy; brothers, Michael and Jimmy, Pluckstown, and Pat, Addinstown, Delvin, sister-in-law, Phyllis, and brothers-in-law, Fr Thomas Donohoe, CC, Moylagh, Oldcastle and Peter Donohoe, Kilbride, Trim. Deceased is survived by her son, Peter, daughter-in-law, Dolores (Hanbury), grandchildren, John, Mary, Ann Marie and Deirdre; and members of the Foy, O"Brien, and Englishby families including niece, Cllr Liz McCormack, cathaoirleach, Meath County Council, relatives, neighbours and friends. The removal took place from her residence at Killeen to the Church of the Assumption, Dunsany, where they were received by Fr T Toner, PP, Kilmessan; Fr J Gleeson, AP, Rathfeigh; and Fr J Clavin, PP, Dunshaughlin. The funeral Mass on 26th May was celebrated by Fr Toner, assisted by Fr T O"Mahony, PP, Skryne; and Fr A Doyle, PP, Kilskyre. Burial followed in the adjoining cemetery. A months memory Mass takes place on Saturday, 27th June at 6pm in the Church of the Assumption, Dunsany. At the last meeting of Meath County Council prior to Friday"s elections, a minute"s silence was observed and condolences expressed to the cathaoirleach, Cllr McCormack, by members, following the death of Mrs Donohoe, and also with Navan area councillor, James Mangan, on the sudden death of his sister, Bridget Murphy in Pinner, London. ______________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________ Kathleen Hilliard, Navan and Drogheda The funeral takes place today (Wednesday) in Mornington of Mrs Kathleen (Kitty) Hilliard, Colpe Road, Drogheda. Mrs Hilliard was a member of the Kane family of Balreask, Trim Road, Navan. Deceased, who passed away peacefully at home on Monday, was grandmother to Meath East TD Thomas Byrne, whose mother, Kathleen is a daughter of Kitty and the late Ben Hilliard. She is also survived by family, Patricia, Dermot, Vincent and Colm; sons-in-law, Tommy and Oliver; daughter-in-law, Majella; grandchildren, great granchildren; sisters, Nancy, Betty, Bridie, Betty and Phyllis; brothers Benny and Sean; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. The funeral Mass takes place today (Wednesday) at 12 noon in the Star of the Sea Church, Mornington. Burial takes place afterwards in Reilig Mhuire, Mornington. ______________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________ Jack Sheerin, Clonmellon The recent death of Mr Jack Sheerin created widespread sadness around Clonmellon and district. Aged 59, Mr Sheerin was a popular member of the community and respected by young and old. He was dedicated to his livelihood as a lorry driver and maintained his own lorries. Mr Sheerin took an active part in Clonmellon"s St Patrick"s Day Parade, and always provided the stage for the occasion. Deceased will be remembered as a devoted family man of great faith, and a great neighbour. Son of the late Joseph and Bridget Sheerin of Crowenstown, Delvin, he is survived by his wife, Kathleen; sons, John, Gordon, Thomas, and Keith; daughters, Olive, Bernie and Michelle; sons-in-law, Enda and James; grandchildren, Pamela, Lisa, Alex, Shauna, Lee and Robyn; sister, Anne; brothers, Seamus, Christy, Pala, Mickeen; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. The removal took place from his residence to Clonmellon Church, where funeral Mass was celebrated by Fr Sean Garland, PP, Clonmellon. Burial followed in Clonmellon Cemetery.
