Irish Heart Foundation has no connection to other institutes

Dear Sir - The Irish Heart Foundation (IHF) wishes to tell your readers, our donors and friends, that our charity has no connection to an organisation calling door-to-door for donations known as the Irish Heart Research Institute or Heart Research Institute. It has come to our attention that there is confusion in relation to this organisation which is calling to the homes of your readers seeking sign-up to direct debits for heart research. The IHF would like to stress that signing up to these direct debits with this organisation is not a donation to the IHF. The IHF is the national heart health charity founded in Ireland in 1966. Our charity is registered with the Irish Revenue Commissioners under the charity number CHY5507 and we are 90 per cent funded by public donations. For more than 40 years, our charity has been working to improve the cardiovascular health of people living in Ireland. To our supporters who wish to make a donation to the IHF research and other programmes, you can do so by phone (Tel: 01 668 5001), by internet on www.irishheart.ie or by postal cheque to the Irish Heart Foundation, 4 Clyde Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4. Finally I wish to thank your readers for their continued support and kindness which enables us to make a difference to people affected by heart disease and stroke. Yours, Michael O"Shea, Chief Executive, Irish Heart Foundation.
