Summer workshops at Solstice

Budding young photographers will have the opportunity to perfect their photography skills with artist and photographer Tim Durham in the Digital Photography Workshop for Teens at Solstice on 2nd & 3rd July. During this two-day workshop, participants will learn how to use their cameras, learn about 'seeing" and visual design. Tim Durham will also host two other Photography Workshops for Beginners (4th & 11th July) and an Advanced Workshop (12th & 19th September). These workshops have been extremely popular in the past and book up quickly. Early booking is advised to avoid disappointment. The Academy of Performing Arts presents a high-energy summer camp based on High School Musical (13th - 17th July). It"s packed with all the favourite songs, drama and dance routines from the show. The workshop is suitable for boys and girls aged five-18 years. Solstice will also host a two-day Scriptwriting Workshop (18th & 19th July) presented by Tall Tales Theatre Company and Meath Arts Office. This workshop will be directed by award-winning scriptwriter and actor, Mark O"Halloran whose scriptwriting credits include the Irish films 'Adam and Paul" and 'Garage". Tale Town"s 'The Thief of Happenchance Street" is a unique creative opportunity for children and young people between the ages of seven and 13. This week long course provided by The Gaiety School of Acting will be a complete theatrical experience incorporating acting, creative writing, stagecraft, music, singing, mime and movement. Each student will have the opportunity to create and introduce a new character to Tale Town, who will be a part of a performance to take place in Solstice Arts Centre.
