Transport Minister on his bike!
Over 450 people taking part in the cycles around Meath as part of the An Post Meath Heritage Cycle tour on 5th July. Among those to take part was Transport Minister Noel Dempsey who completed the 40km cycle tour. There were three routes on the day which all began and finished at Trim Castle- a 40km family cycle, a 100km Royal Tour and 160km Royal Challenge. Speaking after the cycle, Minister Dempsey said: 'I am overwhelmed to see over 450 cyclists getting out and about on their bikes today as part of this Meath cycle series. This event is a fantastic way for all of us to be reminded of how fun and healthy cycling can be. I really enjoyed the 40km spin. People of all ages participated in the various cycle tours that were organised in Meath and I very much hope, given its success, that we will see similar cycle tours organised here again very soon.' The An Post Meath Heritage Cycle Tour started and finished in Trim and included participants from as far away as Saudi Arabia. Charities benefiting from the event were the Aisling Group International and the Meath Alzheimer"s Group.
