Nobber school's high achievers lauded

Some 70 students completed the Junior Certificate exams at O'Carolan College, Nobber, and principal Brian Goggins expressed himself "delighted with the fantastic results". He said huge numbers of students achieved A grades at higher level across all subjects. Mr Goggins complimented students and staff on the fact that "more students sat higher level papers than the national statistics in all subjects and that, in most subjects, more students achieved A and B grades than in the national norms". The school's highest achiever, Katie Reilly, got 9 As and several other students obtaining 8 As, 7 As and 6 As. Mr Goggins added: "The Junior Certificate forms a solid foundation for the Leaving Certificate and, in general, students who achieve well in the Junior Certificate will, in turn, produce excellent results in the Leaving Certificate." He "attributed the school's successes in both the Junior and Leaving Cert exams to the work ethic of staff and students from day one.
