Recent deaths 26-09-09

The recent death at his residence of Mr Michael D (Mick) Martin of Clonkeefy, Oldcastle, was a source of deep regret throughout the district and beyond. A native of Kellybrook, Knockcroghery, Co Roscommon, Mr Martin was a retired garda. He joined the force in 1972 and served in Scotstown, Tullamore, Oldcastle, Drogheda, Navan and Crossakiel, retiring in 2003 after 31 years' service, 18 of which were served in Navan. He was a loving husband and father and will be sadly missed by his extended family, friends and colleagues. Deceased is survived by his wife, Bridie; daughter, Linda; stepchildren, Mary, Marty, Geraldine, Majella and Michael; sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, sister, Mary, England; brother, Eamonn, USA, and sisters-in-law, Anita and Betty. His remains were removed to St Mary's Church, Castlerahan, for the funeral Mass and the funeral took place afterwards to the adjoining cemetery.
