Kym sends soap fans wild at The Palace
'Coronation Street' actress Kym Marsh, who plays barmaid Michelle Connor, is more used to pulling glasses of ale in the Rover's Return, but at the weekend she tried her hand at pulling a pint of the famous Guinness brew, which recently celebrated its 250th birthday, at The Palace Bar and Nightclub in Navan. Marsh, along with 'Emmerdale' actor Kelvin Fletcher, was in town to launch the Palace's 'Octoberfest', a month-long appearance by celebrities, tribute bands and speciality acts. Customers heading to the club on Ludlow Street were greeted by stilt walkers and fire-eaters on Saturday night, while later on, the soap duo arrived for a 'meet and greet' with fans. Marsh had earlier in the evening lent her support to a charity ball in Belfast before being picked up by limousine and chauffeured to The Palace for her late night appearance with Kelvin Fletcher. She arrived shortly after midnight and proceeded to sign autographs and pull the customary pints of Guinness for customers, while Fletcher took to the DJ box and pumped out tunes for the 1,500 people who had turned out for the party. Marsh even took a Hannah Montana fun microphone from one excited customer during the night and proceeded to interview the 'Emmerdale' hunk for the TV3 'Exposé' cameras. Meanwhile, Fletcher, who plays Andy Sugden in the soap, sent Meath female temperatures soaring on the night and eventually took to the dance floor with a throng of female fans who had surrounded the DJ booth. Manager of the Palace, Darren Kavanagh, said: "We have had nearly 30 different celebrities at The Palace since we opened and I have never seen a reaction like the one the duo received on Saturday night. We also had fire-eaters, can-can girls and stilt-walkers along Ludlow Street and there was a fantastic carnival atmosphere."
