Awareness night to launch Dunboyne SVP
A newly-formed Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVP) branch in Dunboyne is hosting a social evening there on Saturday night 24th October in a major effort to boost the awareness of its existence in the community. The event, in St Peter's GAA Club at 8.15pm, is aimed at officially launching the Good Shepherd Conference, which also covers the Clonee and Kilbride areas. In addition to highlighting the work of the SVP, a range of attractive items are on the programme for the function, including spot prizes such as a Carton House Hotel golf voucher, Dunboyne Castle Hotel package, concert tickets and even a sailing trip. Of special interest will be the telling of their unique story by Pat and Olivia Murphy, who spent nine years sailing around the world. Their presentation will be assisted by a slide show. The already very busy conference, headed by its president, Carol O'Flaherty, is confident that the attractive programme organised for the night will ensure a capacity attendance. Admission is free. Among those present will be SVP national vice-president John Monaghan from Leixlip and SVP Oriel regional council president Michael O'Keeffe, Crossakiel, Kells.
