Recent deaths 17-10-09
Much sadness was occasioned by the peaceful death on 20th September last of Mr Hilary Brady, at his home in Dunmoe, Navan, in the loving care of his family, after a short illness borne with great dignity. Mr Brady, a native of Flowerhill, Navan, was born in 1939, was predeceased by his father, James, mother Josephine (nee McCabe); son, Paul; and brother, Seamus. He is survived by his wife, Gay; family, Rory, Fiona, Aisling, Niall, Brian and Aideen; sister Miriam; brothers, Richard and Mark; grandchildren Daniel and Emma; daughter-in-law Barbara; nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Mr Brady's remains reposed at home in Dunmoe until the funeral Mass on Wednesday, 23rd September, in St Oliver's Church, Blackcastle, Navan, celebrated by Fr Dwayne Gavin, CC, Navan, with music provided by the Navan Male Voice Choir, conducted by Richard Brady, brother of the deceased. Burial took place at St Mary's Cemetery, Navan. ______________________________________________________________ Detta Hyland, Enfield The regretted death occurred on 22nd September last of Mrs Detta Hyland, Ballycarn, Enfield, aged 75 years. A member of the Butler family of Grange, Newtown, Co Kildare, she passed away peacefully at home. Deceased is survived by her husband, Barney; daughters, Breda Williams, Ballycarn; Kathleen McCormack, Possextown; Bernie Leonard, Donadea; Mary Keogh, Longwood; Eileen Kane, Possextown; sons, John and Bernard, both Ballycarn; sisters, Eileen Barrett, England and Breda Cribbin, Clane, Co Kildare, grandchildren, great grandchild, in-laws, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and many friends. The funeral took place from the Church of the Assumption, Jordanstown, to Jordanstown Cemetery. ______________________________________________________________ Philomena Brogan, Rathmolyon Mrs Philomena Brogan, Trammon, Rathmolyon, who died on 2nd October last, was wife of the late Paddy Brogan, who died in September 1995. She was aged 85 and was a member of the Higgins family of Tobertynan. Deceased worked for the De Stacpoole family in Tobertynan House and in Mount Hazel, Galway. She also had a great adoration to Fr Charles Houban (Blessed Charles of Mount Argus), who was canonised St Charles in 2008 and who had connections with the Tobertynan estate. She travelled to Rome for his canonisation. Mrs Brogan is survived by her sons, JJ (Jimmy), Rochfordbridge and Noel, Kells; daughters, Mary Ryan, Rathmolyon and June Brogan, Johnstownbridge, extended family, relatives and friends. The funeral took place from St Michael's Church, Rathmolyon, to Kill Cemetery. ______________________________________________________________ Arthur O'Connor, Dunboyne and Navan The death occurred on Saturday last of Mr Arthur (Archie) O'Connor, of Dunboyne, and formerly of Navan. Aged 77, he died peacefully at his residence. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Betty); family, Caroline, Brian, Niall and Cathal; grandchildren, brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by a daughter, Rosaleen. The funeral took place from the Church of the Assumption, Batterstown, to Batterstown Cemetery. ______________________________________________________________ Brian Whelan, Trim The death recently occurred, at the age of 41, of Mr Brian Whelan, 14 Mornington Way, Trim. A native of the town, deceased is survived by his mother, Mrs Margaret Whelan; brother, Alan Whelan, Nobber; sisters, Carmel Dunne, Navan; Marie Marlborough, Galway; Paula, Lisa and Michelle Whelan, Trim; nephews, nieces and extended family. The funeral took place from St Patrick's Church, Trim, to St Loman's Cemetery, Trim. A month's mind Mass will take place in St Patrick's Church on Sunday 8th November at 11am. ______________________________________________________________ Elizabeth Greville, Enfield The death has occurred of Mrs Elizabeth (Betty) Greville, Jordanstown, Enfield. She was aged 88. Mrs Greville, a member of the Loughlin family of Jordanstown, was a devoted housewife and mother. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael (Mick), in 2001. Deceased is survived by her son, Pat; daughter, Anne; son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren and other relatives. The funeral took place from the Church of the Assumption, Jordanstown, to the adjoining cemetery.
