London-based band helping Trim become carbon neutral

'TRIM 2025', a group which aspires to help Trim achieve carbon neutral status over the next fifteen years, has announced a thrilling bill of music for its ambitious launch party on December 4th next at Trim GAA Centre. Headlining the carbon neutral stage will be the multi-platinum international act with Meath connections, The Magic Numbers. Also confirmed are Meteor Award winners from Kells, Ham Sandwich and Trim's own Gerry Tully, The DLS and guerrilla rock legends The Sauce Warriors, with an after-show party with Johnnypluse and Breakonomics. Led by Trinidad-born singer/songwriter Romeo, London's Magic Numbers blend the melodic experimentation of artists like the Flaming Lips and David Axelrod with the sweet harmonies of '60s pop groups like the Lovin' Spoonful and the Mamas and Papas. Romeo began making music with drummer Sean Gannon almost immediately upon moving to the UK from New York City. They were eventually joined by Romeo's sister Michele on bass and Sean's sister Angela on percussion and melodica. The group signed with Heavenly Records in 2004 and released their critically acclaimed, self-titled debut the following year. The group's sophomore effort, Those the Brokes, arrived in 2006, followed by the Undecided EP in the summer of 2007. They are currently putting the finishing touches to a third album, due for release in spring next year, and are on a UK and Irish tour to gave a taste of the songs on it. Sean and Angela's mother is from the area and they spent time in Trim as youngsters. The launch of Trim 2025 by Minister Noel Dempsey, coincides with the build up to the Copenhagen 2020 Climate Change Conference and the organisers hope to raise awareness and support for local carbon emission reducing initiatives. Thanks to carbon offsets sponsorship from EmmissionsZero.com, the launch will be 100 per cent carbon neutral. Trim 2025 is already working closely with a growing number of institutions such as the Trim Town Council, Chamber of Commerce, Tidy Towns, the GAA club and local businesses, including main sponsor Mahons Recycling, Trim. Tickets for the launch concert are available at €20 from Tickets.ie.  Alternatively you can register as a 'Friend of Trim 2025' for just €15 at Trim Credit Union from Thursday 12th November.  Registration will entitle you to free entry to the launch concert on presentation of your credit union lodgment slip.
