Resurfacing of streets and roads in Navan
Road resurfacing work on Bridge Street and Circular Road in Navan has been welcomed by local councillor Shane Cassells, who said that both jobs were long overdue. The work on Bridge Street has seen both the foothpaths and road surface upgraded and completes the resurfacing work carried out last year between the railway bridge and the former Navan Motors site. Work on Circular Road has been carried out from the junction at Bridge Street as far as Nobber Motors and both these jobs follow on from the resurfacing that was carried out recently on the inner relief road in Navan. Cllr Cassells said it was of vital importance that the road network in the town was of a high standard and he was particularly delighted that Bridge Street had been tackled as a number of new businesses had developed there recently. "When an analysis was carried out of road surfaces throughout the county by the council, it was found that the roads in the Navan area were by far the worst. I am delighted that investment is being made in the road network in the town and there is an even bigger job to be carried out in the rural areas that now must be tackled." The engineer for the Navan area, Fiona Fallon, announced last week a series of rural roads that would be resurfaced following damage caused by M3 construction works. Cllr Cassells has welcomed this move as vital to preserving a road network that is under huge pressure from ever increasing traffic volumes.
