Overwhelming response to Kells teddy appeal
Almost 1,200 teddies went on display in Kells at the weekend in a unique fundraising venture by 'Admiral of the Boyne' contestant, Rachel Harten. Rachel, from Carnaross, put out an appeal for teddies and collected a whopping 1,180, which went on display at Hetherton's Garage in Kells on Saturday. Hundreds of people turned up to see and buy some the vast collection of cuddly toys, which included some very old toys as well as many more modern teddies. The colourful exhibition was launched by Cllr Brian Curran who congratulated Rachel Harten for their efforts in collecting the soft toys. There are still teddies available for sale by contacting Rachel, who raised a large sum through the fundraising event. She is taking part in this year's 'Admiral' contest to raise funds for Meath Rehab. The final tally for the amount raised will be known later this week and any unsold teddies will be donated to other charities.
